I was joyous, with an endless smile on my face, last week when I learned that Mr. Seth Williams, who in 2009 became the first African-American District Attorney of Philadelphia, had resigned and plead guilty to one count of bribery. Though I had hoped he would be convicted on the dozens of counts of corruption of which he had been indicted, knowing Mr. Williams could no longer besmirch the DA’s office with his brand of selfishness and sovereignty was a win.

“Here’s the thing about The Good Men Project. We are trying to create big, sweeping, societal changes—–overturn stereotypes, eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, be a positive force for good for things like education reform and the environment. And we’re also giving individuals the tools they need to make individual change—-with their own relationships, with the way they parent, with their ability to be more conscious, more mindful, and more insightful. For some people, that could get overwhelming. But for those of us here at The Good Men Project, it is not overwhelming. It is simply something we do—–every day. We do it with teamwork, with compassion, with an understanding of systems and how they work, and with shared insights from a diversity of viewpoints.” —– Lisa Hickey, Publisher of The Good Men Project and CEO of Good Men Media Inc.

I am one of Seth William’s targets. It started in 2006 when his two best politician friends pitched a townhouse project to be built on rail and coal yard land surrounding my house. They did not do proper environmental reports, did not have demolition permits and my efforts forced a lot of violations on them. The site was very contaminated and I became ill with lead, mercury and more. I reported the problems, which are felonies, and the whole of City government turned on me in brutal retaliation and years of crimes were committed against me. I have very bad… Read more »

Seth Williams is culpable in my daughter’s death. She was an intern from PennLaw and did an internship with the DA’s office. She was sexually harassed by the supervising attorney who graded her internship and claimed arrest affidavits were falsified daily. She compared it to a modern day Auschwitz. Last January she pulled a bag over her head and gassed herself with helium. She was 27 years-old. First in the Class of 2013 at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Law. Seth Williams required three of his deputies to attend a one day seminar on sexual harassment in response to… Read more »
