To help workers improve earnings, current “NBA on TNT” analyst and businessman Shaquille O’Neal is teaming up with Steady, an Atlanta-based company founded to help people find work and achieve financial stability.
An NBA legend, O’Neal recalled that during his childhood his parents each had at least two jobs to make enough money to support his family. Similar financial challenges confronted by millions of Americans today has led O’Neal to become an advocate for the game-changing Steady app.
“I’ve never had a real job, but I understand [worker’s] pain, watching my mom, watching my dad, watching my friends, watching relatives work gigs,” O’Neal said in an interview with Cheddar last month. “When I met with Adam [Steady app founder] I thought, ‘this is definitely going to change people’s lives.’”
Experiencing similar financial challenges to O’Neal during his upbringing, Steady CEO Adam Roseman was inspired to launch Steady by his father who retired with little savings and needed part-time jobs to survive. Roseman is collaborating with O’Neal and other partners as a part of the company’s mission to provide flexible employment opportunities that fit people’s needs and interests.
“This world is held up by the hard workers of America,” O’Neal said. “Our motto [at Steady] is, it shouldn’t be hard to find work. And for a lot of people, it’s hard for them to get extra work. But we want you to come to one place: Steady. We want to help you get steady income so you can live a better life.”
As a successful tech investor, O’Neal only invests in companies that are dedicated to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of customers. Other companies in his portfolio include Apple, PepsiCo, Krispy Kreme, Papa John’s, and e-sports companies.
Since Roseman helped launch Steady in 2018, the company already has attracted over a million members. In addition to serving as an investor and advocate of Steady, O’Neal also lends his entrepreneurial expertise as an advisor to the company.
