In the middle of the night, as you slept like a sane human, Donald Trump launched into a Twitterrant about former Miss Universe Alicia Machado.
Hillary Clinton pounced on how Trump treated Machado after she won the crown during his tenure as owner of the beauty competition, bringing it up at the first presidential debate on Monday night.

She says Trump called her “Miss Piggy” when she gained some weight and “Miss Housekeeping” as a shot against her ethnicity.
Trump is having a hard time letting this line of attack go, which is only giving it a longer lifespan and likely continuing to hurt his chances with female voters. Polls suggests his debate performance didn’t help and he was already struggling to win their votes. So he took to his favorite outlet for his rage and frustration, Twitter, and laid into both Clinton and Machado.
Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an “angel” without checking her past, which is terrible!

Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con.

Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2016
Media outlets have looked into the claim of a sex tape and have come up empty.
Clinton chimed in on Twitter while watching Trump go off the rails, hitting him on his misogyny and asking, “What kind of man stays up all night to smear a woman with lies and conspiracy theories?”

To Donald, women like Alicia are only as valuable as his personal opinion about their looks. https://t.co/OZv8yg8vjZ pic.twitter.com/PZWmPcORBR

We’ve heard Donald’s insults for years, and his policies reflect this disregard—even contempt—for women.

Machado responded on Instagram. The auto-translated version can be read below, which as you can see doesn’t get it perfect but will give you a good idea as to what she has to say on the matter. She is certainly not backing down from Trump’s attempt to humiliate and silence her.
The Republican candidate and his campaign team are again generating attacks, insults and trying to revive slanders and false accusations about my life. All this in order to intimidate, humiliate me and unbalance me again. The attacks that have emerged are slander and lies cheap generated with bad intentions, which have no foundation that have been spread by sensationalist media. This, of course, is not the first time that I face such a situation. Through their hate campaign, the Republican candidate insists discredit and demoralize a woman, which is definitely one of the most terrifying features, with this, seeking to distract attention from their real problems and its inability to pretend to be the leader of this great country. When I was a young girl, the now candidate, I was humiliated, insulted me, I disrespected publicly, as he usually did privately in the cruelest way. As this happened to me, it is clear over the years that their actions and behavior have been repeated with other women for decades. Therefore, I will keep standing, sharing my story, my absolute support Mrs. Clinton on behalf of women, my sisters, aunts, grandmothers, cousins, friends and female community. My Latin and in general, I want to thank all the support, love and respect, my career, my person as a human being and my family. I became a citizen of this great country because my daughter was born here and because I wanted to exercise my rights, including voting. I will continue standing firm in my lived experience as Miss Universe and you with me supporting me. I’ve been so pleased with many kind words, for so much love. I’m focusing on my busy career, in my work as mother and I will continue taking positive steps for the Latino community, I will continue as activist for women’s rights and respect we deserve. I appreciate all your love and all your support again, thanks. Thousands of blessings.

Trump was upset that a beauty pageant winner gained weight. Wow, that’s the controversy? Trump expected a beauty pageant winner to be beautiful. Trump wanted women at his restaurant to be pretty so does Hooters. He owned a bunch of other companies including constriction. If he didn’t insist on the same thing, logic would dictate that it was more likely a business decision than misogyny, but that would be off narrative and why be fair when you can railroad someone with dog whistle politics. I’ve heard of a few TV anchor contracts that had “look” clauses in them. Oh they… Read more »
Yeah, it rained here last night. It’s Trump’s fault.
Look DJ, it’s one thing if you are not interested in issues that obviously affect women. How Trump treats and talks about women is a big concern for half the population. It’s another to be outright dismissive about these issues and concerns with the intent to shut a conversation down. It actually is Trump’s fault when he verbally shames and degrades women and sincerely wanted less attrwctive women fired from their jobs for no reason at all. Please, I beg you…if a woman was saying stuff about men that Trump says about women, if a woman treated men like Trump… Read more »
You are lecturing a man on the art of gender bashing? Are you shitting me, in a country where manbashing has been the sport of kinds for the last four decades? Do you watch TV? Do you see every other commercial portraying men as idiots and fools, dads as unable to boil water without burning down the house (a study done in 98″ demonstrated that in 96% of the cases where negative portrayal of a sub-group existed, it was men)? Do you see how we portray violence against men, by women, as comical while thousands upon thousands of men are… Read more »
@ Erin I agree that if some of the things Trump said about women were said about men, I would probably not vote for that candidate. I don’t know if these things qualify though. I think Trump sometimes gets unfair treatment because he’s a dis-likeable person. I think though that you’re mistake in that there have been no presidents during the time when I’ve been able to vote, who have shown men more respect and compassion than they’ve shown women. It tool years to approve HPV vaccine for boys after it had been approved for girls. Prostrate cancer prevention funding… Read more »
