Times have changed. Society has progressed. Instead of drooling over the T-Birds or the Pink Ladies from “Grease,” we’re mesmerized by Jessica Day, aka “New Girl.”

Perhaps it’s her thick, black glasses paired with innocence? Or maybe, it’s her eccentric, no-shame attitude that viewers find to be so endearing? Regardless, a person who’s an endless pit of useful (or rather, useless) information makes for interesting conversation.
Sometimes this, harmonized with a certain amount of quirk, creates an unforgettable personality. Yet, an unconventional person isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Strange is unfamiliar territory, and many people shy away from that.
Just like dating a rich girl or a total “smoke show,” there are perks associated with dating a girl whose trophy collection includes Shakespeare, Faulkner, Twain, Hemingway and J.K Rowling.
Here’s the awesomeness you can enjoy when dating a nerdy girl:
Books are cheaper than jewelry.
Let’s face it: The moment you start dating someone, you can’t help but notice that your bank account seems to be dropping faster than the asteroid that demolished the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.
Some girls want you to buy them diamonds; others just want nice books. Look at Belle from “Beauty and the Beast.” She didn’t want a castle — just a good book!
Pillow talk is educational.
Ah, the terrifying promises that are exchanged during late-night pillow talks. Instead of being forced into the claustrophobic corner of questions like, “Do you love me?” or “Does your mom like me?” when you’re dating a nerdy girl, pillow talk can lead almost anywhere.
You might be transplanted back to the revolutionary war or find yourself completely tormented by the thought of our neighboring galaxy, Andromeda, colliding with the Milky Way.
While ignorance may be bliss, you’ll certainly find some sort of (mental) stimulation in bed.
Celebrity crushes aren’t much of a threat.
There’s nothing worse than overhearing a girl talk about her celebrity crush. It creates an unrealistic, shallow expectation of how you think you should be. But, when you’re dating a nerdy girl, guess what? Her celebrity crushes are either dead or twice her age.
Maybe she fantasizes about going back in time to have a conversation with Albert Einstein or Benjamin Franklin.
If that’s the case, you clearly have nothing to worry about — except for your IQ.
You don’t have to entertain her.
Relationships are about compromise. Say there’s a night when you want to go out with the guys, but the guilt of leaving your girlfriend on a Friday night is eating away at you.
Puh-lease. If you’re dating a nerdy girl, she is probably counting down the minutes until she can finally dive into her latest book.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
She provides you with topics for bar talk.
Remember the pillow talk that forced you to consider when the next natural disaster might happen? Well, it all comes in full circle.
When you’re at the bar with old or new friends, work buddies, or people with whom you’re forced to socialize, whip out some of those interesting facts nonchalantly during awkward silences.
People will either be mildly impressed by your extensive knowledge or terrified that you know these things — in which case, some newfound respect may be headed your way.
She’s likeable.
As sad as it is, people — women in particular — are more welcoming to someone who’s non-threatening. A nerdy girl has bigger problems to think about than judging another girl’s hair or makeup.
You’re never bored.
While beauty may fade, intelligence is timeless. There’s nothing better than being utterly fascinated by what a person has to say. You can only look at someone for so long; it’s her personality that needs to ultimately win.

I’ve known plenty of clingy nerdy women. Even nerdy women can enjoy having jewellery….
I’ve had both men and women tell me that my nerdy qualities have made me intimidating to potential male suitors though I’ve never really understood why. I’d be interested to hear someone’s thoughts on that dynamic.
I would assume that men think that nerdy women are extremely smart. So it would be kind of hard to to have an intelligent conversation when you do not think of yourself as such. We want to at least impress the woman a little bit.
I’ve dropped every pretence of being impressive, in favour of (trying) to be interesting, since a long time ago.
Problem is, women, even nerdy ones, need to find you attractve in some way Before any advent of pillow talk.
you expect them to cover the entire range of nerdom and geekery in a single article? This is supposed to be a quick and breezy read not a tome or Ph.D. dissertation. I’m sorry that out of all the multiplicitous examples they could have chosen from they didn’t pick one that fit your personal experience exactly.
Sick of this stereotyping bullshit! Half of what you’ve written only applies to “nerdy girls” obsessed with books and literature. I thought the definition of a nerd was someone who is very smart. I consider myself a nerd and a geek, I love fantasy books, I study zoology at uni, I really have very little interest in history but I am intelligent, intellectual, loyal and friendly. I have too many hobbies and love a good intelligent debate. But not one of my “nerdy” friends is exactly the same as me or your stereotype.
Stop it with “girl” this and “girl” that. We’re women. Nerdy, yes, but still women. NOT girls.
