Sorry Sec. DeVos, You’re at the Bottom of the Class

In fact, Social downright detests the Cabinet. Key members, such as Housing & Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke all get just 25 percent positive sentiments online. Energy Secretary Rick Perry (you remember him) pulls 27 percent for his pro-coal, climate-change-denying policies, and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross tallies 31 percent. Ross has kept a lower profile in recent months but the steel tariffs announced last week haven’t helped his popularity. One of the Cabinet characters more tolerated by social media was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, but his 41 percent positives are probably small consolation as he packs up his office after Donald Trump gave him a distinctly unceremonious boot out the door yesterday. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who has been the least sycophantic of the President’s men and women, is at 47 percent. Down at the absolute bottom of the barrel is Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. Her support for channeling public funds to private schools has won her no friends online, and she sits at a dismal 21 percent positive. In what is widely thought to have been a disastrous 60 Minutes with Lesley Stahl on Sunday that raised questions about DeVos’s competence – according to Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, even Trump may have tuned it out – the Secretary said she has no idea why she’s so disliked. Tough spot to find yourself in. Vilified and wearing a dunce cap. –Hugo Guzman
