The American Federation of Teachers and the Badass Teachers Association, a national grassroots organization focused on social justice, recently released the results of a quality of life survey conducted with nearly 5,000 educators. 58% reported that their mental health was “not good” for 7 or more of the previous 30 days.
This is a big increase from the 34% who reported the same in a similar survey from 2015.
And yet, amid the growing number of school shootings, we have schools like that in Kentucky who are allowing teachers to arm themselves. Is this a sound decision?
