The Western states California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, parts of Texas, as well as parts of Michigan, North and South Dakota all experiencing drought conditions. Several states are experiencing megadrought conditions, where unless it starts raining soon, these areas will have upwards of 50 million Americans, 1 in 6, wondering where they will be getting their water from in as little as five years. Is there a plan to address this national issue or is this another case of “if we don’t talk about it, it will just go away?”
Part One: What is a megadrought? What causes extreme drought conditions? Can improving or repairing the water infrastructure protect dwindling supplies? How long before Zero Day becomes a reality for parts or all of California? What does this mean for the state economy as businesses respond to the threats of wildfires and dwindling water options?
