Emotional abuse is all over the news. From the #MeToo movement to tensions in the Middle East to our President calling out public servants because they may be, brace yourself, part Native American, we can’t seem to get enough of talking about others in negative ways.
Emotional abuse can be so many different things. It can be the way someone treats you, looks at you, regards or disregards you or the way they flat out talk to you.
Right now I’m dealing with some minor emotional abuse, but emotional abuse just the same. I can’t get this person to see that I’m way too overwhelmed with life in general right now and they just won’t realize that I need space to breathe.
I tell them I need space and specifically ask them to stay out of contact for a few days so I can get caught up and feeling like I’m ready to take on the world, and their immediate response is several texts, two phone calls and a voicemail within the next fifteen minutes.
This is a form of emotional abuse, though not nearly what I’m getting at for our phone call Thursday night. Let’s talk about how emotional abuse affects us on an individual level and on a larger level, such as local, state or national governments, social groups or whatever else you can come up with.
Join us this Thursday night, October 18, 2018, at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific as we discuss The Ticking Time Bomb of Emotional Abuse in the World Today and how we’re going to handle it.
The information for the call is below and we would love to have you join us and add your opinion. If you’re not comfortable sharing, just sit and listen. However you most feel comfortable is how we want you there.
Join us every Thursday night for rotating mental health topics and please feel free to suggest some that you’d like to talk about. This is a group for US, and WE need to have a say in it.
See you Thursday!
