The former Massachusetts governor and failed 2012 Republican presidential nominee wrote a scathing note about Trump’s behavior on Friday, directly calling him out for how he’s handled the discussion about the violence in Charlottesville. That’s in stark contrast with other Republicans, who’ve talked about the need to denounce white supremacists without uttering Trump’s name. Romney wrote that Trump should apologize for his remarks over the last week and added this advice: “State forcefully and unequivocally that racists are 100% to blame for the murder and violence in Charlottesville. Testify that there is no conceivable comparison or moral equivalency between the Nazis — who brutally murdered millions of Jews and who hundreds of thousands of Americans gave their lives to defeat — and the counter-protestors who were outraged to see fools parading the Nazi flag.” So far, POTUS has remained silent on the Romney rampage, instead tweeting about Steve Bannon’s departure and protests in Boston. Over the last day, Mitt Romney has a 56 percent positive score on Social. That might not seem like much of an edge, but for an American politician in August 2017 – especially one who has had his ups and downs on Social — it’s remarkably high. –Alex Shultz
