But after President Donald Trump’s ambitious budget was released, such claims look suspect. The $4.4 trillion budget is projected by The New York Times to add $7 trillion to the national debt by cutting taxes and increasing spending, and it comes with a series of proposals that have many scratching their heads. Non-defense programs are taking a $1.5 trillion funding cut that includes cutting spending for preschool programs and the International Space Station. Federal airports and power plants would be privatized, while defense programs and immigration enforcement would be boosted. Some conservatives are aghast. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) attacked his fellow Republicans for their spending, declaring that there was no longer a truly conservative political party in America. Social is pretty steamed, too, giving the Trump Budget 83 percent negatives on 30dB. –Hugo Guzman
