The Oklahoma State Cowboys, who beat the No. 1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks twice, were excluded from March Madness. So, too, were the USC Trojans, who finished the season 23-11, with a 12-6 mark in the Pac-12 and an appearance in the conference championship game (a loss to Arizona). But on the whole, basketball fans are mostly satisfied with what’s to come, despite a few snubs. The top seeds are the Virginia Cavaliers, Villanova Wildcats, the aforementioned Jayhawks, and the Xavier Musketeers. There is also a litany of NBA prospects to peep, including Arizona center Deandre Ayton, Oklahoma point guard Trae Young, Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr. (who recently returned from injury), and Duke big man Marvin Bagley III. The tournament kicks off with the First Four games on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the real-deal first round beginning on Thursday. Over the last seven days, #MarchMadness has an 87 percent positive score on Twitter. –Alex Shultz
