Helmreich, a sociological researcher, Green an engineer who gave up his home and job to embark on uncovering the differences and similarities of an infinitely unknowable city. Helmreich uses a map to guide him, while Green relies on GPS; yet the emerging result is the same: recognition of a deep love for the heart and pulse of their rich and diverse city.
