I am a Ukrainian: A Protest Video

Coming out of the current unrest in Ukraine this video looks to bring the reality of the protests to the eyes of the world.

The issues in the Ukraine have not calmed in the last three months and they are not showing any signs of changing course. In a recent clash between law enforcement and protesters at least 21 people have died, with these casualties coming from both sides. The protest has quickly gained international attention and even spurred a phone call from the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden directly to Ukrainian President Yanukovych.

A group of protesters has made this video hoping to gain more support for their cause. They hope that people will show their support and in turn urge their representatives to press for action. With the current technological age we live in it isn’t hard to imagine a video like this reaching the eyes of many a leader worldwide, hopefully it can do some good.

Our connectivity has grown thousands of times what it was only a few decades ago and yet the main source of our information, electronic devices, has made it increasingly easy to divorce ourselves from the real world. For many the evens in other countries will only ever appear as a webpage on a screen that within moments will be refreshed wiping away not only what was on the screen but also wiping it from our minds. The real world needs our attention, real people need our voices to be heard, and real lives need to be saved.
