On Wednesday, a prying tool was used to break into Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, the site of America’s most deadly mass shooting, which last month left 49 people dead and 53 others injured.
According to Click Orlando, the incident occurred mere hours after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Orlando police turned the premises back over to owners Rosario and Barbara Poma.
Our community is still grieving. It’s disturbing that someone would try to bring additional pain to the victims. https://t.co/iQ3LAp8X60

While the club is outfitted with surveillance cameras and an alarm system, neither was activated at the time.
NBC reports that damage was estimated at around $200.
Barbara Poma issued a statement regarding the incident, admitting she’s “disappointed’ someone would break into the space, especially in the wake of last month’s tragedy:
Since June 12, we have seen the worst and best of human behavior. We are disappointed that someone felt compelled to violate the privacy of our beloved Pulse Night Club and the sacred place it has now become. We have faith in the Orlando Police Department and its’ investigation of this break-in. The club will continue to remain closed to the public as we work to plan the future of Pulse.”
