War is planned by men & women in power who will never bear the loss it demands on the most personal, deepest level. War depends upon — has always depended upon — our fear of scarcity. Not enough land to grow food, not enough clean water, not enough oil — never enough oil. War says, “My children will eat and yours will starve and die, and that is the way of the world. Too bad. So sad. My God favors my people, not yours.” But technology and our modern capabilities expose the lie of scarcity, and the lie of divine exclusivity. The earth is rich and prosperous with food and water and energy, enough for all, no matter the language you speak — spiritual, and otherwise. IF, if we are ready to give up the illusion of division, of Us vs Them, of ideological or cultural superiority over anyone else. IF and When we are ready to recognize every single person on this planet as another member of our human family that they undeniably are — our fate lashed together by our every action — then, finally then, we will have peace.
