Sami Holden discusses modern dating with talk radio host and marriage coach, Lesli Doares.

Dear Readers,
This past week I was asked to discuss my Good Men Project article on why I don’t want a fairy tale romance on the radio show Happily Ever After is Just the Beginning! with Lesli Doares, LMFT. As Lesli is a professional marriage coach, she is very qualified to give advice. Since 2002, couples and individuals have been coming to her to learn how to make their relationship dreams come true. It was great to further discuss the concept of why people see fairy tales as an ideal and why that invariably leads to disappointment. In addition, we talked about how reality TV dating shows, the lack of friends as men age, and how current technology all affect the modern man in his dating pursuits. It was so much fun and I think will provide all listeners with some great topics to think about!
Here’s for better dating days ahead,
~Sami

Here is an idea … Stop turning Prince into frogs. I read some time ago that they call it a frog syndrome where women find their prince and end up turning them into frogs. They fall in love with his as he is but then work on changing him and if they don’t change them, they become the frog.
Thank you for your comment! The radio show nor the paragraph I wrote above deals with that as a topic. One of the actual takeaway points is that unfair expectations have been created and perpetuated with reality shows like The Bachelor or romantic comedies. It doesn’t encourage making a significant other a project of some sort.
