What If the Nazis Won World War II?

Kudos to DC for doing something different than the typical cape and tights comic. In Freedom Fighters, a 12-issue series set on Earth X, Hitler won World War II and took control of the United States.

Most of our citizens are falling in line with the mandates and iron fist rule by Adolf Hitler II, the new Furor, who appears to have set up his seat of power in the White House.

The original Freedom Fighters were wiped out by Hitler in World War II, but in the present day, a new team of Freedom Fighters has decided they’re sick of the “Ratzi” rule in the land of the free.

“Onkle Sam” as he’s called by the Nazi’s was the one symbol they had to take out in World War II and it looks as if they did, until near the end of issue 2, when we see him rising from a 55-year slumber.

There’s still hope for the United States!

Most people in modern society didn’t know about the original Freedom Fighters, so they’re not sure what to make of these new heroes trying to rally the citizens to fight back and take what’s theirs.

The original Freedom Fighters consisted of Gold Medal sprinter Jesse Owens, Doll Man, Human Bomb and a guy calling himself Black Condor.

In the new version of the FF, there’s obviously no Jesse Owens, nor any of the original Fighters. There is a new Human Bomb, a Doll Lady this time around, along with a new and improved Black Falcon and a new hero, Phantom Lady.

n an effort to wake the Uncle, the new Freedom Fighters hit the Gestapo hard, taking out art of their Iron Police Force.

What happens from here? We have to wait until Wednesday, February 27 to find out because that’s when issue 3 hits shelves.

This is a really interesting and unique series and as someone who enjoys history, though I’m by no means a history buff, I find it to be entertaining and a picture of what could have been.

If you’re looking for something new and cool, definitely check out Freedom Fighters. Issues 1 and 2 should still be at your local comic book store and issue 3 hits shelves next week. If you decide to check it out, come back and leave a comment so I know what you thought.
