When there is talk about the gender wage gap, often the statistic heard is, “Women earn 79 cents for every dollar a man makes.”
While this is factually correct, it does not encompass the nuances of the wage gap.
The answer is in the complexity of this problem.

It’s even more complex than that and I’m not convinced there is a wage gap when everything is factored in. Whenever another factor is added, the gap decreases. A lot of researcher claim that they’ve factored in everything, yet, a goof like me can usually find something they missed. For example, I’ve never seen anything account for shift differential.
