Let’s be real, all men have some sort of superhero complex. The reason movies like the Avengers, SpiderMan, Batman, and many others are so big today is because we all want to a superhero and have some superhero-ish skill we possess. Most of us grew up watching the cartoons which the top movies are based on today.
We asked every couple the following question about superheroes and super powers.

And that desire we had as a young boy to save the world, to beat up the bad guy, or the impress the girl is still with us today. Especially that last one. For those guys who are married, we have the opportunity on a daily basis to impress our wives, save the day for her, and take on the “bad guys” our families face.

Who are you? Who does she say you are?
But do our wives see it that way? Do they see us as Superman or Clark Kent? Do they see us at Peter Parker or The Amazing Spiderman? The Dark Knight or Bruce–well, I think we’d be okay with either, being a superhero or a multi-kajillionaire or whatever Bruce Wayne is.
During the month of January, my wife and I hosted an online marriage event where we interviewed 20 couples who have fantastic marriages. Most of them are writers, speakers, coaches, bloggers, podcasters, or a marriage expert of some kind. The summit was amazing and provided great insights into married life and ultimately what makes a marriage last and fulfilling to both husband and wife.
At the end of each interview, we closed with what we called “Quickies” or our “Quickie Round.” The quickies were basically five simple, sometimes silly questions that the couples were to answer quickly with one word or one phrase, and not much deliberation to it. We asked every couple the following question about superheroes and super powers…
What would you say your spouse’s superhero power and/or name is?
As you can guess, the answers were sometimes comical, sometimes didn’t make sense, and a few of them were pretty cool. After a few interviews, I realized what I said at the beginning of this article. Men all have a desire to be a superhero or possess some super power.
You could see from the different reactions when they were pleased with it (head nod and chest puffed up), shocked (confused look), or just plain disappointed (“what the…?” and smh).
Here are what some of the wives said about their husbands superhero powers and names.
