A comparative between YouTube Kids & Yocofee App
– YouTube Kids App or the Original YouTube App
Which among the two is the most liked/preferred video content viewing interface by children, tweens and teens?
Before & during the development of Yocofee, we interacted with many Parents in person regarding the above question. Although an opinionated subject, from this exercise, it was understood to us that kids generally prefer the original YouTube App over the YouTube Kids App, especially the primary school age group of children and above.
What are your views on this?
In this lead, we thought to jot down some comparisons between the recently launched Yocofee App and the YouTube Kids App.
What is Yocofee?
Yocofee is a dedicated First-of-its-Kind Content Filtering App for YouTube (as well as Instagram). With Yocofee, Parents can Control and Manage each and every Content that Kids watch on YouTube — YouTube Videos, Shorts, etc. & on Instagram — Instagram Videos, Reels, etc.
Yocofee supports
i. Blocking of Content, and
ii. Selective Filtering of Content
Importantly, the Yocofee Interface is exactly the same as the Original YouTube App. This aspect coupled with a unique feature set of YouTube Selective Content Filtering, Content Blocking, Hashtags Blocking, and many more Parental Controls, plus support for Instagram Content Filtering makes Yocofee a Unique and Market-First Solution.
Yocofee is currently available exclusively for iPhones and iPads and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
Disclaimer
The Yocofee Content Filtering App is bundled with Network Firewall and Parental Controls and offers a Unique feature-set for Parents to set up a Supervised YouTube experience for their kids.
Yocofee compliments YouTube’s flagship apps and it is not a YouTube clone app. This report is being published to draw a comparative perspective, listing down the comparisons and differences between the YouTube Kids app and the Yocofee app and does not intend to establish that one is better than the other.

Let’s go to the Details.
Yocofee App vs YouTube Kids App — Difference and Comparison
In addition to YouTube Kids, YouTube is offering another option for Parents to restrict Content for Kids through YouTube (parent supervised) app.
Supervised accounts on YouTube are available for children under 13 (or applicable age in your country) with a Google Account managed by Google Family Link.
YouTube (parent supervised) has 3 content settings for child –
i. Explore (aligned with content ratings for age 9+)
ii. Explore more (aligned with content ratings for age 13+)
iii. Most of YouTube (contains all videos except age-restricted content)
But YouTube itself confirms that not all videos in this app have been manually reviewed and that they rely on public feedback to find something inappropriate that got missed, and to red flag it for fast review.
Another option provided by YouTube is through Filters by setting ‘Restricted mode’ in YouTube. But here too, YouTube affirms that YouTube filters are not 100% guaranteed.
Conclusion
Parents can create safe online experiences for their Kids based on their needs. For example, by managing Yocofee App with Apple Screen Time controls or other existing Third Party Apps, Parents can build more finer online safety.
