Joe Blair put away his motorcycle and his dreams to do manual labor while supporting four children, one of whom is profoundly autistic. Rekindling a sense of purpose in his life took something big: the Iowa River flood. Blair, a graduate of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a pipefitter who lives in Coralville, has just published his memoir, “By the Iowa Sea.” It’s one of Publishers Weekly’s Top 10 Memoirs of 2012. Listen to Joe talk about his book and his life.
A man. A father. A husband. A great writer. Worth the checking out. Make sure to wait for the section he reads from his book about his autistic son. Very moving and profound.
Listen to a great interview Here.
