According to ABC News, as well as the above news clip from MSNBC news, early reports say that an announcement will come late this afternoon that George Zimmerman will be faced with criminal charges in the case of Trayvon Martin.

Both of his lawyers have also resigned as his counsel.

No news on what these charges maybe, except that First Degree Murder isn’t one of them, as it takes a Grand Jury  in order to convict a person of First Degree Murder, according to Florida law, and the prosecutor has already decided not to bring the case in front of a Grand Jury.

Attorney General Eric Holder has also spoken officially about further pursuing facts in a parallel investigation about Trayvon Martin’s civil rights having been violated.

 UPDATE (Wednesday, 6:00 pm EST):

ABC News reports that George Zimmerman will be charged with Second Degree Murder.

UPDATE (Wednesday, 9:30 pm EST)

MSNBC reports that George Zimmerman is now in custody:

George Zimmerman is in custody in Florida and will be charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, authorities announced Wednesday. His attorney said he would plead not guilty.

Zimmerman, 28, arrived in a police caravan at the Seminole County jail about 8:20 p.m. ET. Under Florida law, he must be taken before a judge within 24 hours of his return to the county, where he has acknowledged he shot and killed Martin, 17, in the town of Sanford on Feb. 26. Corey wouldn’t say where he was being held to protect his safety.

Zimmerman is being held without bond, as Second Degree Murder is a non-bondable charge in Florida.
