How many of us hear a terrible story on Facebook and immediately make plans to go solve the problem?

That’s exactly what experienced hiker Dr. Jon Kedrowski did when he randomly heard about how Jeff Lodico had fallen at least 20 feet on Snowmass Mountain in Colorado. The morning after reading about Lodico’s situation, he packed up and began the ascent to Lodico’s precarious position on the side of the mountain. When he got there, Lodico was only semi-conscious and suffering from a broken pelvis and hand.

KDVR.com reports:

A search-and-rescue helicopter would do the rest and airlift Lodico to safety. After spending 2 weeks at Swedish Medical Center, Lodico is back home and recovering.

He has nothing but praise for his fellow hiker. “It was kind of random that Jon heard about it and did what he did. When you think about it, it is kind of amazing. He’s a pretty amazing guy.”

Good man, Jon. And a big thanks to the rescue team, too.
