Deanna Ogle talks about Romo, “overreaction week”, and how good it is that football season is back.
The NFL’s first week of the regular season commenced last week, which means it’s that beautiful time of year when we get together to watch football and squint at our computers as our points accumulate (or disappear, like in the case of my defense—thank you, Giants). You made it through the draft, and you finally got to try out your fantasy team for the first time this year. Break out the seasonal beer, order some pizza, and get ready to argue with your friends about how the games are allowed to go:
“I need Aaron Rodgers to blow up this week to win it for me.”
“Okay, fine. Aaron Rodgers can do well but he can’t throw to Greg Jennings!”
Surprise Performance of the Week: Tony Romo
Well, hello, Romeo! In the season opener against the Giants, Romo showed us the great quarterback that we all know he can be with 3 touchdowns (one of which was a 40+ yard throw), only 1 interception, and 300 passing yards.
Is this the “new Romo”? Or is it just a symptom of the Cowboys’ “No, really, it’ll be this year” attitude?
Overreaction Week
Dan Patrick of The Dan Patrick Show dubbed this week “Overreaction Week” because after months of football withdrawal everything gets exaggerated and we’re trying to make season-long predictions based off of a single week. Here are three overreactions that have dominated the headlines this week:
“The Jets have solved their QB problem!”
Is the two QB system a sustainable solution for New York? Or do you think it’s going to take more time to see how/if Sanchez and Tebow will work together?

“Peyton Manning is back forever!”
Yes, Peyton looked fantastic in his return to regular season in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. But was this pressure or do you think good ol’ Peyton is back for good?

“Robert Griffin III was the perfect draft choice and Andrew Luck is a bust!”
Was RG3’s performance just beginner’s Luck? (I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it.)
How do you think these two rookie stars will do overall this season?
How was YOUR Week 1?
