For those of you who don’t know, the Good Men Project Magazine is actually the younger brother of the illustrious Good Men Project book. The brainchild of our very own Tom Matlack, the book is a collection of essays—very much like those that we publish over at the magazine—which explore what it truly means to be a good man.
Author Zinta Aistars, who blogs over at Zinta Reviews, has written a review of the book. She’s hit the nail pretty much on the head:
This collection of essays isn’t about what women think about good men, however, or how women define goodness in a man. It is about what men think about being a good man. And rightly so, because being a good man begins with the man himself, with his taking more than a moment of introspection to consider what this means.
While she questions some of the essay choices, overall Aistars gave the book a glowing review:
This is a good book asking a good question and written by more than a few good men. It’s a good start, and we can only hope that good men will find themselves ever more appreciated in a society that, as Matlack observes, is at a crossroads for men seeking guidelines for how to live lives that matter.
The book is available here, just for you, and just in time for the holidays. Keep in mind that the book’s proceeds go toward at-risk boys—who better to teach the importance of being a good man? It’s well worth reading. But don’t take it from us, ask Ms. Aistars.
