For this month’s Premium Member Hangout, our members had the opportunity to talk personally with nationally-recognized anti-bullying educator Jamie Utt.
In this video, Jamie discusses why many of the anti-bullying programs at our kids’ schools don’t work, and how we can make them more effective. He also addresses the problems with zero-tolerance bullying policies.
Members Scott Behson from Fathers Work and Family, Marie Roker-Jones of Raising Great Men, Porter Anderson of Welcome to the Ether and host Joanna Schroeder also asked Jamie about how to help our kids cope with online bullying and teaching kids to embrace diversity.
We hope you enjoy this month’s hangout, and find it helpful.
Next month, our topic will be communication for a healthy marriage. If you’re a Premium Member, we’d love to have you join us!

Also, his newest bullying-prevention program is looking for schools to pilot the program!
A Culture of Civility is looking for pilot schools for the 2013-2014 school year. We need middle schools and high schools who are concerned about the problem of bullying to test our materials and offer substantive feedback. Unfortunately, as it stands now, we do not have curriculum outside of teacher training for elementary schools, but we’re hoping to have that soon!
Participant schools will have access to this transformative approach to bullying prevention for one year and will have an exclusive opportunity to shape this dynamic new program in its early stages.
To be eligible to pilot the program, schools must simply fill out the following survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Q9JVX8K
If you know any teachers, please consider passing along that information, or send this survey to your school’s principal or counselor today!
