On Monday’s episode of the Daily Show, Jon Stewart did a segment on the evolution of Democrats and their support of gay marriage. Raising the question, what will it take for Republicans to accept gay marriage as well? As Stewart points out, “You can not ask Republicans to embrace both gay marriage and evolution in one go.” He does explain that several GOP members have come out in support of same-sex marriage, like Senator Mark Kirk, who almost died from a stroke and realized, “Our time on this earth is limited, I know that better than most. Life comes down to who you love and who loves you back — Government has no place in the middle.”
But Stewart wonders, other than a “catastrophic brain injury,” isn’t there anything that can change a Republican’s mind on the issue of gay marriage?
