Jim Henson would be 74 today. The world’s greatest puppeteer died twenty years ago from an unexpected infection in his lungs.
His name is synonymous with puppets and rightfully so. My life overlapped with Henson’s for barely two years, but it seemed like he was there for a lot longer than that.
Whether it was the Muppet Show, Sesame Street, or (for me) the Muppet Babies, Henson probably played a big part in the good times from your childhood. With Sesame Street still going strong, his influence is set to live on for years (with or without Katy Perry).
We miss him and can only wonder what he’d be creating were he still alive today.
Enjoy him doing what he did best.
I loved Jim Henson. What heart. Do we have any Jim Henson-types around at the moment? I think the world could use one.
