NEWSER: ‘Egypt’s Jon Stewart’ Charged in Cairo

Charged with “insulting Islam and President Morsi,” Bassem Youssef, also known as Egypt’s Jon Stewart, turned himself in to authorities for questioning this weekend. Youssef is just one of 5 activists the government has accused of “sparking violence” in the deeply divided nation. Egypt’s director of Human Rights Watch said the charges, which authorities deny as “curbing freedom of expression,” sees blatant intimidation and repression in the governments actions.
