If you’re a regular reader of The Good Men Project, you probably know John Taylor, also known as The Daddy Yo Dude. He’s one of our favorite Daddy Bloggers. He’s a great writer, thoughtful and brutally honest about the challenges he faces in life—both external and internal.
Now John, an at-home dad to 3 and 5 year old kids, is facing the biggest challenge of his life. He went to the doctor for what he thought was an infection, but what turned out to be metastatic cancer which is in his testicles and brain among other sites. He had surgery today to remove one of his testicles, and he came through with flying colors and is already Tweeting up a storm.
Like so many in today’s economy, John has been living without health insurance for many years. His medical expenses for things like chemo and radiation will be great, so a site has been set up to help bridge the gap between now and the beginning of the coverage they hope to get from government.
You can learn more about John on his GiveForward page as well as at the CaringBridge. Follow his progress on Twitter @TheDaddyYoDude for updates as well as his normal fun and thoughtful posts.

John is a dear friend of mine. I love his writing, his strength, his tenacity and his ability to face things with an honest clarity and humility.
John may have cancer but it definitely does not have him.
