I think debates at this point largely benefit the fan base of the candidates, (they have long ago decided who they will vote for) the TV networks as they love the ratings and those morons who claim they are “undecided” solely for the benefit of attention. Obama was clearly the winner of this debate as Mitt seemed once again to be out of touch on women’s issues, gun control, debate moderators and most other changes since 1953.
I agree, but while that makes Mitt the loser as far as our fellow liberals are concerned, those same attributes are what make him a ‘winner’ among the Republican base.
The method of choosing the winner is quite simple. Each one avoided direct answers to the questions, but which one was more *persuasive* when he dodged the questions? Which one’s evasions made you feel better? Which one was the best at turning a short answer question into an essay question? I was very impressed by the audience’s questions. A lot of them went right to the heart of the differences between them, and a straight answer from either would have made up a lot of minds. Unfortunately, I was often frustrated by both of their answers. In some cases, a… Read more »
The winner of last night’s debate was Obama…if only because he doesn’t have a flipping meme flooding every form of social media making fun of him. Mind, I think that’s just as silly a reason for there to be a ‘winner’ as the last debate when Romney was declared the winner because even though he lied like a madman, at least he didn’t seem a bit bored (like Obama). Howard Dean (I think it was) made some comment a few nights ago that perhaps the best way to figure out who wins a debate is to mute it and watch… Read more »

This reminds me of the upcoming election in Australia, either way we’re fucked. Both contenders suck!
Is Romney going to change the abortion laws? I heard talk of that…
