Judge Howard Broadwater (ret.) sentenced Shane Taylor 25 to life for a non-violent third offense. In the video above he explains the regret he lives with every day: “His first two offenses were not significant. And I made a mistake and I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.”
This video is just one example of how the Three Strike Law in California for non-violent offenses ravages families and punishes, rather than rehabilitates, addicts. First or second-offending violent criminals who kill or rape or molest children often serve less time than non-violent third offenders under the Three Strikes Law as it stands.
