43 year-old man opened fire at Oikos University in Oakland, CA, killing seven nursing students on Monday.

CNN.com reports that a former student named One Goh opened fire in a classroom yesterday afternoon, killing seven people. Goh then took the keys of one of his victims and sped away. He was later detained by police in an Oakland suburb.

Authorities also did not know what prompted the shooter to open fire. In addition to the seven dead, three others were wounded in the attack.

“With a case of this magnitude, with all the victims and witnesses and all the chaos, it’s going to take a few days to put the pieces together,” Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said Monday night.

The college, which caters to the Korean American Christian community, offers degrees in theology, music, nursing and Asian medicine, according to its website. (via CNN.com)

In situations like these, we cn’t help but wonder what could possibly drive a man to kill innocent people like this?
