Three years after starting the journey to film “The Vasectomist” the documentary is complete, but as Jonathan Stack explains, “The film is just the beginning…”
Some of you may have been following my weekly posts The Vasectomy Files, so you’ll know that what started as a film about my personal relationship with fatherhood and fertility, turned into a portrait of Dr Doug Stein, one of the world’s leading vasectomists as he traveled the world lowering the planet’s carbon footprint … one vasectomy at a time. Three years later The Vasectomist is complete and we’re really proud. However, the film is just the beginning…
On October 18th, 2013, we’re celebrating WORLD VASECTOMY DAY! We are asking 1,000 men in 25 countries “to put their balls on the line for the planet” and do their part for our collective future in the largest male oriented global family planning event ever. Our partner is the Royal Institution of Australia where Doug will lead a live-streamed vasectomy-athon. He’ll be joined by some of the leading thinkers of our time as they discuss and debate the complex issues surrounding population.
We’ve already accomplished an enormous amount, but we need your help. To get there we have launched a crowdfunding campaign. What’s crowdfunding? It’s online fundraising where we set a goal ($50K) and time limit (38 days) and we ask all our friends, family, colleagues and followers, anyone and everyone, to help us achieve it. The power of the crowd is a beautiful thing.

I realize many of us are struggling and there are plenty of good causes and good projects to support, but there are not many ways you can have a greater impact than this. On World Vasectomy Day we aim to lower our carbon footprint by 10 million metric tons of CO2. That’s more than 30,000 people could achieve in a lifetime of recycling, reusing and reducing.
We’re offering some great rewards for your generosity but the truth is, the greatest gift we can give ourselves and future generations is to make sure that we take care of the only planet we’ll ever call home.
Crowdfunding is reliant on social media, so even if you can’t contribute financially, you can help us by doing any and all of the following:
1: SUBSCRIBE to our Campaign News
2: LIKE us on Facebook
3: FOLLOW us on Twitter
4: SHARE this post with your friends to SPREAD THE WORD about our campaign
Whatever you can manage to contribute will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much.
