Poet Paul Goldman reflects on saber tooth tigers and pause buttons.
In each moment, I have
a choice to react
from my amygdala,
knowing there is indeed
a saber tooth tiger
charging ready to devour,
or let both barrels of reason
loose and see the perceived
threat as merely what it is-
an information source.
To access the golden
fruit contained,
I need only allow my pause
button to engage,
for herein lies
the gift of self
responsibility
and the subtle
ability to speak words
that heal, instead of wound.

Paul’s words that explain such an elusive and powerful process for men and all of us, are eloquent and much needed. Thank you, Paul.
