Did you ever once agree with the ideas of the Law of Attraction … but now, when you hear words like “positivity” and “universe,” you roll your eyes and think, “I’ve heard THAT before”?
It’s been a good 12 years since “Law of Attraction” became a buzzword in the world. Since then, its ideas have gone so mainstream that now, whenever we hear about “stating things in the positive” and “reading your goals every day,” we tend to ignore it or take it for granted.
It sure happened to me a few years back. It happened to me for one reason: The Law of Attraction DID work for me.
But after enjoying success for a few years, I started getting bored and wanting to “try something new.”
As a result, my overall enjoyment of life started dropping, and I didn’t know why.
My businesses started slipping.
My relationships started getting colder.
And I was feeling more and more stressed.
Are you in the same situation?
Do you find yourself rolling your eyes at any mention of “positivity” and “Law of Attraction” and “goal setting”?
Do you find yourself wanting to “try something new?”
If you are, then this article is for you. I’ll show you how I fell into that very same trap you’re in right now … and more importantly, how I got out of it.
Beware the Other Law
Here’s what I realized: There’s another Law at work, besides the Law of Attraction.
It’s called the Law of Familiarity. And it basically states that when you experience something too frequently or regularly, you tend to start taking it for granted.
And yes, that includes the Law of Attraction and the success it brought into my life.
You’ll want to avoid getting victimized by it. Otherwise, you can lose all the progress you’ve gained in your life and in your businesses, and the other areas of your life suffer as a result.
Instead, you’ll want to understand this truth in life: That success in anything isn’t about being able to do a bunch of different things, but executing the few basic things to near-perfection.
It’s like boxing. It’s not about knowing the flashiest punches — it’s about mastering the six basic kinds of punches to near-perfection.
Likewise, if you want to lead a successful life, you’ll need to master the few basics.
To me, those few basics include — joy, positivity, love, and prosperity. You can add a few more “basics” that resonate with you in your life, too.
Once you have a list of your “few basics,” let’s do a quick exercise.
Feed Your Mind The Right Things
Take a few minutes to note the following:
• The people you hang out with
• The conversations you have with people
• The goals you set for your life
• The books you read
• The films and TV shows you watch
Write down everything (and every person) that falls under the five criteria above.
Which ones feed your mind with more of the precious few basics? And which ones feed you distractions, and actually take your attention AWAY from those basics?
Take note, and start making adjustments as soon as you can.
Remember: The mind will take whatever you feed it. So follow what works, and feed the basics. It’s the simplest, fastest way you can start getting more of what really matters to you.
