When I first started writing for the goodmenproject.com I was no where near close to accepting Jesus Christ as my savior. No, no stop don’t go away just because I wrote Jesus Christ. The goodmenproject.com website has a trade mark slogan, “We eat stereotypes for lunch.” This means that The Good Men Project doesn’t assume that being a good man doesn’t mean a narrowly defined list of traits that a good man has to have to qualify as being a good man. If I write Jesus Christ is my savior, you don’t have to assume that there is nothing here for you to see if you see believing in Jesus Christ as believing in nonsense.
Many men don’t like reading about Jesus Christ because He lives in a Bible, where a male God made a man in His image and then fooled around with the man’s rib to make him a companion, known as wo-man. Many men don’t want women to believe that they are second best creations derived from a man for his pleasure. What if there is another God in the same Bible who did things differently. The Authorized King James Version of the Bible that my Grandmother gave to me in 1961, says there is.
Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 27 reads, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female he created he them.” He did this on the six day and considered everything to be finished. On the seventh day He rested.
Now you can complain that God is still a “He” here, but notice He made male and female both in his image. This “He” stuff was just so people at the time it was written would get it. Male and female is but a small part of what God is, but male is no greater than female, they are both in his image.
So if God was all done, then why this story of Adam getting made later. Genesis Chapter 2 says God did it so He would have someone to “till the ground.” What? It is as if God changed his divine mind. First in Genesis Chapter 1 He let “them” male and female know that they had everything they needed and all that they needed to do was to be fruitful and multiply and then He decides he needs a gardener? This makes no sense. God doesn’t change his mind and He had it right the first time.
It appears that our original mistake was believing that God changed his mind, an idea that was put into the minds of the male and female that God created. Who would try to promote the belief that this bad idea was God’s idea? You guessed it, the Devil.
No, no now is not the time to run away from this article. Don’t scoff at the mention of the Devil. Give him his due consideration, even though the Devil doesn’t want you to.
If the Devil wanted you to believe that God made a field hand and then genetical manipulated the field hand’s rib to make the field hand more willing to toil in the fields, by giving him woman to go home to at night, would the Devil lend his name to this outlandish story? No, the Devil would use the name of God.
I am no Bible scholar, but I have some commonsense. Sense enough to realize that the Bible contains riddles to help people think about that which is written. The riddle here is that God’s Book, contains the Devil’s story because God has dominion over the Devil. God can’t be happy that most people got the riddle wrong, but then God is Love, so it is okay.
So along comes God the Son, who sometimes calls himself Son of Man, who I call Jesus Christ. He is okay with that. I am sorry that we have Father and Son maleness going on here, but that is just another riddle for modern times.
In modern times we are all caught up with naming the range of gender identities and asserting that each need their right to be that way protected. God apparently had two genders in Mind, but both female and male were equally in His image.
So who is Jesus Christ in my book.? He was the One who came to tell us that God is Love. All that God is, is Love. All the rest is just good story telling.
I used to believe as a little boy, that I should believe in Jesus Christ. As a boy, I never got that far. As a man I converted to the religion of the scientific method, a method that knew what to do with a story of someone who walked on water, drown it in data as to what is possible.
It is a long story as to how I came to find Jesus Christ as my savior and the role that writing for The Good Men Project played in that. You might get to hear more of it if you are interested and if I can get this first article past by my editor at goodmenproject.com. Such articles will be great for pissing off Bible scholars and non-believers alike. Most of all I will be grateful for more opportunities to piss of the Devil and rebuke that Beast in the name of Jesus Christ.
