When you notice you want something, but don’t yet have it, what is in the way?
It may be someone else’s unwillingness.
Or that it’s a lot to ask for.
Or maybe you don’t yet believe you deserve it.
But there’s one thing people often overlook that simplifies many situations.
What is it?
ASKING!
Without asking for what you want, you are much less likely you to get it.
Asking is simple but the problem tends to be that it can be incredibly vulnerable.
Men especially tend to associate asking with weakness — as though you should already know the answer or have what you want.
To delve into how you can ask for what you want while remaining powerful, I brought in my friend and colleague Joe Bernstein, a powerful coach who has spent the last 15 years coaching, training, developing, and empowering thousands of people.
In this Man Alive Podcast conversation we covered:
- How to navigate the 3 paradoxes of asking for what you want
- 7 clear steps to make challenging conversations go well
- The Win-Win factor– remembering that when you ask for what you want, others actually benefit
- The power of learning the art of HOW to ask, in addition to WHAT you ask for
- How to make agreements that give you more confidence and ease in the midst of challenging situations
This is an episode full of illuminating perspectives and actionable steps. I think you’ll benefit from listening to it more than once!
Even men at the top of their game find themselves wanting more from life. Man Alive is the resource for men who want more meaning, a bigger impact, unshakable confidence, a hotter sex life, more money, deeper love, solid friendships or a powerful legacy.
