Often times when we find ourselves in new situations, with new people, or new opportunities, we hold ourselves back from from asking simple questions for fear of looking stupid.
If this is a common occurrence for you, I explain in this video the results of holding back the questions you are too afraid to ask, for fear of tarnishing the perspective others have of you.
So what happens when we don’t ask? We won’t know. We won’t know our responsibilities, the situation at hand, or what’s being asked of us. We owe it to ourselves to understand where we stand in every situation. Without knowing that information, we make bad choices and we may misunderstand our duties, which will ultimately make us frustrated, making us feel that we’ve agreed to do something that we didn’t fully understand.
The third thing we want to think about is that many people have been in painful situations after the fact because they didn’t ask important questions before starting the project to begin with. These questions would’ve safe guarded yourself from wasting time or making simple mistakes during the duration of the task being ask of you.
Finally, the longer we wait to ask those necessary questions, the more stupid we look! Going along with the crowd, pretending like you know, will only kick you later when you prove that you really had no idea.
