She places the ball at my feet and stands waiting for me to throw it. All the time she focuses on me, gazing into my eyes with expectation. I throw the ball and she hares after it, brings it back and the whole process starts again.
This is a favourite game for many dogs, so what’s the difference with Bubbles. Her good-natured persistence is amazing. She will play this for hours without fading. The great qualities that she displays gave me some great lessons, such as:
- She knows what she wants.
- She asks for what she wants.
- She expects to get what she wants.
- She never gives up.
- She is grateful when she receives it.
- She always wants more.
- She does it with rapport.
This is critical in shaping your life. Where are you going? What are you trying to achieve? What do you want from and in your life? What is inspiring for you? Answers to these questions will help you see your way into the future.
How often do you bemoan not getting what you want, when you might never have even asked for it? Do you know how to ask? Do you know what to ask for? Many years ago I learned to ask six times for what I want, not giving up is the crucial element.
Do you have certainty about what is going to happen? Do you live your life expecting to live your dreams, or do they remain remote and unattainable? This is where the concept of ask six times comes in. You are pursuing what you expect to get.
Are you sure and keep going? Can you weather the rejections and the times it doesn’t happen? Do you have the courage to keep going because you know it will happen? This level of consistency and certainty creates a powerful energy that creates results.
No matter what you have endured on the way, are you grateful for what you get? Do you resent the rejections or do you celebrate all the steps on the way? Celebrating is a powerful way of being grateful. It acknowledges the result and sets up the next time for success.
Once you achieve your goal do you keep going? Do you lift your Vision, re-visit your goals and want more? Do you treat your Vision as an end and give up once you get there? Is life still inspiring? If you keep going and growing with your goals, life will follow along. A common saying is that if you are not growing you are dying.
Do you enter the world of those you are trying to enroll in your Vision, or do you annoy them into supporting you? Do you find out what is in it for them, or what is in it for you? How are you inspiring? Focusing on others and helping them to get their goals will catapult you forward in your goals. Others will support you and enable your results.
Bubbles is an inspiring teacher and she does not even know it, she is only a dog.
I do not see Bubbles any more, I was only looking after her for a short term. I could have found her enthusiasm annoying but I chose to see a different approach. How much do you do this in situations that annoy you? Is there a lesson there for you that you are missing? Sometimes it can be beneficial to stop and take a different approach.
Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them. —Jack Canfield
