Some of us hold back our truth in big ways or outright lies.
Others bend the truth to look better or tell little white lies…
Why do we do it?
When you get to the heart of it it’s usually about the fear of losing a friendship, relationship, a job, or something important to you.
Or the fear that we’ll cause discomfort or unresolvable conflict in our relationships.
But then we end up dissatisfied and less alive and inspired by life.
I know this one too well. I’ve sat on truth, avoided conversations and tried to sugar coat my desires or disappointments. Instead of just telling it straight!
It costs us a lot when we do this.
We end up twisting into or hiding behind protective strategies, trying to cover up what we haven’t said or build a case for what we have.
Holding back truth is draining and eventually backfires.
Dr. Susan Campbell has written many books and facilitated thousands of people through this tender territory. She is a master of truth-telling in a way that creates MORE connection and ultimately helps you not lose yourself!
In today’s Man Alive podcast conversation we covered:
- The 10 Truth skills you need to stay vital and connected
- The power and benefits of receiving feedback and how to ready yourself for it
- How to go from hours of processing to a 5 minute repair in relationship
- Surprising ways to bring your truth at work that make you more likely to advance and succeed
- What many people get stuck on and triggered by that you can shift to take control of your life
I loved this conversation with Susan and have been speaking my truth more often as a result!
Even men at the top of their game find themselves wanting more from life. Man Alive is the resource for men who want more meaning, a bigger impact, unshakable confidence, a hotter sex life, more money, deeper love, solid friendships or a powerful legacy.
