I have tried every scheme known to humans on how to avoid taking responsibility for my life. All of my failures were somebody else’s fault, or they stacked the odds against me. My list was long on excuses and short on accountability.
It is no great mystery why I relied on this approach, blaming others and my circumstances removed any need for self-reflection and change. But this approach was very unsatisfying, for it never brought desired results. By not examining what internal changes I needed to make, I attracted the same situation repeatedly. This often led to the same betrayals and abandonment I got from others. The universe seemed to conspire with me to give me the people or circumstances I needed to blame for my failures.
Finally, after tiring of getting the same results, I decided I needed to make some internal changes if I was to improve the outcomes in my life.
You have the power
The people and experiences in your life helped shape your inner self-concept. Whether negative or positive this self-view drives your thoughts and teaches you what it perceives to be your limits. From these limited beliefs, you determine your reality. Challenging these beliefs, especially the ones that limit you, and you can change your life.
This isn’t easy because self-examination threatens this inner self-image (or ego) because it set up these boundaries to keep you within its perception of security and stability. But these ego objectives are an illusion, a lesson I learned from the many changes I experienced in the sixty-seven years of my life.
The best way to challenge these ego beliefs is to choose the thoughts that make you feel loved, supported and inspired. Reject the thoughts that make you feel unworthy, unloved, that you can’t, or that you are not good enough. Also, reject the thoughts that urge you to compare yourself to others to measure your self-worth or that achievements in the material world are the way to happiness.
Conclusion
The universe (higher consciousness or God), is always conspiring with you. It passes no moral judgment on what you want. If you believe people will betray you, they will. If you believe you are not worthy of love, you will experience being unloved. This is how powerful your connection with this higher consciousness is, and this is where your power lies.
If you want to live a life you are passionate about, you must accept the responsibility of changing your self-concept into a higher one. Stop using an excuse for your failures, you have the power to manifest your reality. But if you refuse to do so, you will never emerge into the higher-self God created you to be.
