Do you know what kind of addict you are?
Addiction is so rampant in our country. We live in a society where most people are addicts or some nature.
You’re probably thinking to yourself, well David, I don’t really do drugs or I don’t drink… the thing is, it doesn’t matter.
What are you addicted to?
Let me put a list together right now of all the possible additions you have that self-sooth your life away. The crazy thing is… this won’t even be a comprehensive list.
Instead of well, tackling the life and instead of dealing with issues that come up, how do you sooth yourself?
Are you an iPhone addict?
E-bay addict?
Online shopping addict?
Sugar addict?
Workout addict? There are people who are addicted to working out so much that they’re too skinny.
Not everything is healthy, too much of anything can be detrimental.
Avoidance addict? Whenever anything comes up, you avoid it.
Are you a gambling addict?
Do you drink?
Do you smoke?
Do you do drugs?
Do you gamble?
The list goes on and on. We live in a culture that is highly addictive, and on many levels makes addiction attractive.
Why? Well, it’s just the way we cope, instead of facing things, we find things that will literally help us and sooth us through our lives. To smooth out the sailing so to say.
So the question is today, of all the things you’re addicted to, how many of them do you use to avoid doing things you need to do.
Maybe you’re a hoarding addict.
The list goes on and on, but the real question is, what are you avoiding in your life by your addictions?
Fantasy football can be an addiction. It’s easy to avoid stuff during the football season because it’s exciting and new and a challenge and difference. — because it’s really easy to just play fantasy football.
So the question is, take a look at your addictions and ask yourself, what are you truly avoiding through your addictions?
Because we’re all addicts of something.
And when you know what you’re addicted to, and know, more importantly what you’re avoiding you can begin to overcome.
