Beliefs are an integral part of our human existence.
Everything comes from our beliefs.
There are harmful and helpful beliefs. There are beliefs that inspire and beliefs that limit us. It is our beliefs that can set us apart or bring us together.
Our beliefs completely control what we perceive and how we perceive it.
Throughout my life, I was always interested in them. I was forever curious about people’s behavior and the thoughts that preceded their actions.
I used positive beliefs to earn millions of dollars on Wall Street as an equity derivatives trader. I was a director at two of the largest banks. I worked with some of the most talented, tenacious, and competitive people in the world.
In hindsight, I used negative beliefs to destroy a seven figure net worth from hubris and poor decision making. When we do not handle our self-sabotaging beliefs, they reduce our capacity to have wellness in our lives.
It is the empowering beliefs and activities that lead us to a healthy life.
I have always been committed to physical fitness because it contributed to my overall wellness. I did quite a bit.
• Played college football against Tom Brady
• Did Cross Fit for 2 years
• Practiced yoga for 16 years
• Have good maximum repetition levels on the Olympics lifts
Do you want wellness in your life? Here are the seven things that you can do to start having wellness in your life now.
1. Consume Consciously
Water! Nothing else matters more. Strive to drink at least three liters a day. Eliminate sugary drinks from your diet. Yes! All of them.
Did you know that creating healthy eating habits is one of the top problems in America? Type 2 diabetes is going to overwhelm the current health care system over time.
Avoid being a part of that trend.
Focus on eating as close as nature intended. If you cannot consistently and exclusively eat whole foods (including vegetables, low-sugar fruits, legumes and nuts), then you need to address your beliefs about your body.
2. Sleep Eight Hours
Your body needs rest to serve and rejuvenate itself. Strive for eight hours of sleep every day.
3. Exercise Consistently
No doctor is going to tell you that you should not exercise unless you are a victim of a particular disease. There are many forms of exercise. Pick your favorite and do it on a consistent basis.
4. Explore and Follow a Consistent Spiritual Practice
Your spiritual path does not matter to anyone but yourself. Try several options and discover which ones feel authentic to you.
If you are not into spirituality, there are alternatives. Consider a personal development course or volunteering for an organization that serves others.
5. Create Loving Relationships
Treat others as you would like others to treat you. It is important to recognize that what you give in love will be the amount that you will receive from others.
I recommend reading these two books, The 5 Love Languages and Living Deliberately.
6. Reduce Stress
Stress will kill you. I have a friend that is still humping the derivatives trading game in New York City. We have worked together in the past. He tells me everything about the current state of affairs.
He used to earn over a million dollars annually, but his salary also took a dive during the Great Recession. Nonetheless, he earns $265,000 per year, but feels miserable. He works 14 hour days and commutes 3 hours. He never sees his children and his marriage has suffered too.
Do not allow your life to become overly stressful.
7. Eliminate Dependency
It is bad in every form.
Pills, addictions, government assistance programs, and irresponsible borrowing are all very bad.
You are the ALPHA, BETA or GAMMA.
You are a leader who must lead others. Dependent people cannot be expected to lead others. You are a sovereign being. So, start acting like it. You are endowed with the mental abilities to create prosperity.
This information is available to anyone, yet few access it. We have the full ability to create empowering beliefs that can fuel our wellness. Unfortunately, many create disempowering beliefs that disables their capacity for wellness.

I appreciate that you mentioned getting enough sleep. We know how important it is, but we still often neglect what our body needs. I would suggest working on your discipline, it will make a difference in the long run.
