Kuhn, "Quiet Nights"
Brooklyn based label/collective Astro-Nautico has a genius on their roster. His name is Kuhn. We admit that we don't know much about Dubstep but this song is undeniable. Bossa Nova? Check. Chopped saxophone sample? Check. Heavy bass? Check. The use of samples here is awesome. "Quiet Nights" is one of those songs that makes you feel like you have some sort of super power. Maybe you can walk through walls. Maybe you can regenerate cells rapidly. You decide.
Cillie Barnes, "Hey Hi"
Warning: this woman's singing voice is highly stylized. Soft, airy and outside of the mouth are all fitting descriptors. At first, we had trouble making out the lyrics. Then we realized that we had to listen more softly, not harder. "Hey Hi" is a fantastic Pop infused Folk song by Vanessa Long. Cillie (like silly) is a new moniker for her newest works. She was previously a member of "Surf Rock" band Family of the Year. A very dope band, by the way, that you should definitely check out. Listen to "St. Croix" and you will understand. We like this girl … very much.
The Young Romans, "Merciful Stars"
We're suckers for great melodies and duo The Young Romans knocked this one out of the park. We're not wowed by anything in this track as it's pretty standard fare for this style but it just feels good and that's all that really matters. It's composed and arranged well, layered perfectly and the harmonies are beautiful. We love tracks like this because they always solicit those, "Who's that playing?" moments. Add some mystery to your playlist with this one.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The original link for the Kuhn song went bad and wasn't available at press time for #musicmonday. We present the link for the free download here for your enjoyment and have updated the column to reflect this discrepancy.
