Senior hip hop correspondent Rox Fontaine will be recommending selections from our weekly #musicmonday column.Click through to the link below to find the songs you'll love.
Chasing Kings, "Nice Guys"
This song is so weird. There's so much mixed in that we can't even begin to categorize the song. It doesn't matter where you slot this song anyway. It's wildly entertaining regardless of genre, for a number of reasons. You'll decide your own reason. We just think it is hilariously creative, quirky and fun. Are we allowed to use LMAO in a post? This track definitely solicited a few mental LMAOs.
J.Y. feat. Michael Francis + Peter Rose, "A Song to her Friend" (Restricted Love)
We could do without the auto-tune but this track is otherwise pretty slick. More than anything, producer JRB layed the smackdown on this track. There are so many layers and cool harmonies to experience that we just had to recommend this one. It's perfectly current and the performances are solid but nothing is more standout than the track itself. We'd be trying to sell this track to Trey Songz ourselves. Just sayin' …
Bishop Lamont, "Sodom + Gomorrah"
Yasssss! You should know well the story of the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah. That will quickly hip you to the content of Bishop Lamont's verses. If rough, rugged and raw makes you uncomfortable, you should probably jump back to the first selection in this weeks post and have a bowl of something soft. It's a shame Dr. Dre is pulling the greatest PR stunt in the history of Hip-Hop with this mythical 'Detox' album. We would love to have seen Bishop jet to stardom from the songs he reportedly had/has on the project.
