K. Sparks, "Nostalgic Lights"
This song will hit you in your bones. Jazz inspired chords to compliment a repeating drum fill sprinkled with some super funky scratches and topped with fine malt lyrics. No house of pain. It conjures up images of smoking jackets, velvet monogram slippers and expensive bourbon. We own none of these things so we just have to pretend that we are much flyer than we really are as we listen to this song. K. Sparks and producer Navie D. aced this one.
D.M.P., "To Be Loved"
This song is so much fun! Producer Nottz absolutely killed this flip of a sample from Coming to America. It's basically impossible to listen to this song and not smile. The creativity and musicality is very playful. There's not much more that needs to be said about this one. Just listen to it.
Cee-Lo Green, "Anyway"
If you haven't noticed yet, this weeks theme is feel good music. Cee-Lo does it again with his soulful vocals over a retro inspired dance track. This one is set for placement on the re-release of The Lady Killer. Listening to this song reminded us that the holiday season is here and this will definitely be on the playlist of any parties we host this season. We are looking forward to spiking the egg nog and getting loose to this song after a loving smooch under the mistletoe.
