In case you’re just waking up, President Obama signed the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell into law this morning. He told the Advocate that the policy should be implemented quickly:
So my strong sense is this is a matter of months, absolutely not years—and that we will get this done in a timely fashion, and the chiefs are confident that it will get done in a timely fashion. They understand this is not something that they’re going to be slow-walking.
Needless to say, Congressman Barney Frank is pretty excited.
Frank, one of the most outspoken opponents of DADT, didn’t stop there, though. Wondering what’s going to happen when—eek—gay and straight guys shower together? We’ll let Frank answer that one for you.
I know a lot of people hate him, but Barney is great.
I’ve known him since I was a little kid and he’s been on my dad’s rinky-dink cable TV show. He may be arrogant and curt, but he’s a great guy and an even better legislator.
