The Good Men Project

Here’s a Project. Now What’s Yours?

It's a blank slate. Get it?

There are projects and there are Projects. The former are what you’ve been meaning to get around to but haven’t because, well, Terminator 2 was on TV. Things like organizing your garage or updating your personal website or reading that untouched pile of magazines you subscribed to six months ago.

But Projects are different. They’re the endeavors that drive you forward instead of occasionally stabbing you with guilt. Fueled by passion, they possess your brain like you’ve been Incepted.

In case you missed it last week, I wrote about my dad’s Project and the Dockers Wear the Pants contest that hopes to inspire a worldwide phenomenon. Wear the Pants is a contest aimed at motivating men (and women!) across Facebook to pitch their dream project. If the pitches receive enough votes—from friends, family, fans—then the winner will receive $100,000 to get his or hers off the ground. There’s also a chance to score weekly “Man Grants,” which are $2,000 in services, tools, and resources every week through November this year.

Our very own Ron Mattocks—the man behind Clark Kent’s Lunchbox over in Dads Good—has pitched a series of historical mystery novels inspired by his three sons. The novels are in response to the rising illiteracy rate in young boys. Here’s a video where he explains more:

I’ve written about the importance of reading for kids before. I’m on board. You can vote for his project here.

Or even better, you can propose your own Project with a capital P. Check out the Dockers Facebook page here and get your pitch on. Just keep it under 400 words. Then start panhandling for votes. Because let’s face it—you’d rather be shooting for that Project than organizing your garage.
