I watched some of Donald Trump’s address to Congress last night. He seemed to be very optimistic as to what he could do with the multiple messes the United States of America and the World are in. President Trump followed the narrative of every male President before him. Things are horrific, but he is and will increasingly take care of things or at least some of them.
Clearly we don’t expect a President to declare that they will do everything they can think of to not make matters any worse. We expect that they will be able to make things much better. We often hedge our bets by voicing our opinion that our President is on the wrong track and that another man or another women who acts like a man, could do better.
There are of course many men, who declare that they could do better than the President. Most men aren’t so bold as to come out and say so. However, by the way they speak it can sure sound like that is their opinion of themselves.
It still seems to be a time when challenges to the narratives of the powerful can be easily deflected by labeling them as being based on false information or foolish conspiracy theories.

Many men would like their President to be a World-class hero, up to the task of being the glorious leader of the, so called, “free” part to it. Many men prefer that such a President lead in a humble fashion.
With Donald Trump sounding pretty much like every other President who has ever addressed Congress the fact that many United States citizens and non-citizens are so upset by this President needs some explaining. I think that this goes beyond Donald Trump being the first blonde President. I think it is because of some disconcerting changes in the political narrative in the United States.

Previously it was up to the Grand Old Party, (GOP), to raise fears about the intentions of Russia, in order to justify increased more defense spending. Then it was up to the Democratic Party to argue for spending cuts and giving peace and the Russians a chance. For Democrats to suggest that a GOP President got that way, by being in bed with Russia, has been here-to-fore unheard of.
We are used to Democrats winning Nobel Peace prizes for being men of peace and with Republicans signing God Bless America and anthems “to bombs bursting in air,” due to selling bombs being good for business and freedom not being free.
We are used to GOP men being for corporations and the rich and for everything being fine the way it is. Democratic men stand up for the beaten down classes. These narratives are now confused by the number of millionaires and billionaires on both sides.
In this time where the most respected politicians are openly or secretly millionaires, as are the so called journalists, all claims and reporting of efforts on the behalf of the poor and the non-rich are becoming increasing difficult to believe. The men of wealth against the rest of us narrative continues to be thwarted with a vengeance. To make matters more confusing wealthy men are funding organizations that claim alliance to the oppressed, but are really hidden tentacle arms of those who get off on wielding power.
Such influence is not that secret either. All one has to do is add “funding” to any web search for a web site that is claiming to seek promotion of the weak over the powerful. It can be an eye opening experience.
It still seems to be a time when challenges to the narratives of the powerful can be easily deflected by labeling them as being based on false information or foolish conspiracy theories. Debate has been reduced to Tweet-size, experts are too often paid shills and entertainment distraction from the “news” is ever growing in bandwidth and variety and novelty.

For men who like to venture into the realm of complicated information there is now access to vast stores of data and dialogue. However such journeys do not end with the satisfaction of knowing more about mysteries related to human woes. They instead bring awareness of how screwed the human race is.
I, for one plan on tuning in less to the blathering of politicians of any color of hair, in oder to tune in more to feeling states that seem inspired by forces spiritual and unworldly and non-gendered. It is a narrative of repentance and faith in divine intervention. As ridiculous as such a search seemed to me as a younger man, in seems the only way to go today.

“The fact that many United States citizens and non-citizens are so upset by this President needs some explaining.” Well, slightly more are welcoming the change with open minds and hearts, which is why he won the election. The reason that so many were caught deer in the headlights is because there are still those in the media churning out their misinformation and biased argumentation like Ahab upon that great white whale. They continue to spout doom and gloom, talk about trillions of dollars lost, racism, sexism, impending doom, the decline of our nation at the hands of our new president… Read more »
For the last 8 years, a huge part of the country was “upset” by Obama. But those voices did not find their voice here, as far as I can tell. So they went out and elected Trump instead of giving Hillary the big seat. And they brought the democrats to an all time low, totally marginaling them at federal, state and local levels. So “they” were upset at Obama. Now “you” are upset at Trump. Same shite, different day – as the saying goes. Only you think that your upsetness is more important, more special, more worthy of attention than… Read more »
I agree Harry. That was the root cause. I voted for Trump. But primarily because the path we were on was utter destruction ad an American I felt I had no choice. He’s that fly in the ointment. They all hate him because they know the pig trough has a better than average chance if being drained. And they are all pics. We know it. And they know we know it. So I’ve said before trump is not the end all to be all. But he us the stopgap.
